CONSULTING HIGHLIGHTS

The following list contains highlights of consulting projects successfully engaged in by SMITHGROUP Q. A. Consultants:

•  Designed and developed, in partnership with the State of Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (GDJJ), preliminary Quality Assurance (QA) standards, which served as the foundation for the standards ultimately approved by the Department of Justice.
• Developed and designed the QA scoring and standards weighting protocols for Georgia DJJ's QA Standards.
• Assisted the Bureau of Investigations for Georgia DJJ by providing them with research and guidelines on investigative timeframes from other jurisdictions.
• Designed, developed and implemented The Office of the Inspector General for the State of South Carolina DJJ.
• Certified in US Federal courts as a Juvenile Justice Expert to assist the Department of Juvenile Justice for the State of South Carolina in its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
• Developed a state-of-the-art, multi-faceted Event Reporting Management Information System (ERMIS) approved by DOJ for South Carolina DJJ.  Through ERMIS, South Carolina DJJ's ability to develop effective reactive and proactive strategies and to engage in crucial forecasting has been significantly enhanced.  One of the key components of this system is an early alert system.
• Developed curriculum and trained staff on ERMIS.
• Developed the juvenile grievance procedure for the State of South Carolina DJJ.
• Provided comprehensive training to South Carolina DJJ staff on the juvenile grievance process.
• Involved in the development of policies and operations procedures manuals and quality assurance framework for the State of Michigan, Department of Juvenile Justice.
• Development of the quality assurance standards for the State of California, Santa Clara County Probation Department, Juvenile Detention Division.
